Requirements

  • Space Requirements: The trailer requires a dedicated, unobstructed area measuring 8 x 48 feet.
  • Power Supply: A stable and reliable power source is critical to operate the advanced imaging equipment efficiently.
  • Staff Training: Operators must undergo comprehensive training to ensure proficient use of PET/CT systems, promoting smooth operation and strict compliance with patient safety standards.
  • Clearance Needs: Adequate space on the passenger side is necessary to accommodate the patient lift, entry stairs, and optional platform.
  • Accessibility: Storage compartments and service doors must remain fully accessible at all times for seamless operation and maintenance.
  • Safety Zone: An 8-foot magnetic exclusion zone should be maintained around the trailer walls to ensure safety.

Applications

  • Remote or Rural Healthcare Facilities: Bring advanced imaging to areas lacking permanent installations.
  • Temporary Installations: Ideal for hospitals during renovation or periods of increased patient load.
  • Specialized Diagnostics: Used for cardiac imaging, oncology, and other critical diagnostic needs.

Built for Comfort, Designed for Dignity

Every aspect of Platinum’s mobile PET/CT trailers is designed to support a dignified, safe, and comfortable imaging experience.

The entry sits low to reduce strain on patients, and it features an ADA-compliant lift that provides access without requiring manual lifting or the use of improvised ramps. This minimizes risk for both patients and staff, especially in facilities without permanent accessibility infrastructure. The 70 cm wide bore supports a broader range of patients, including those with higher BMI, reducing the need for patient redirection or rescheduling due to equipment constraints.

Inside, the HVAC system manages temperature and airflow with minimal noise, maintaining stable scan conditions while keeping the space quiet enough for clear staff communication. Climate conditions vary across regions, and long-term trailer placements must operate reliably in both extreme heat and cold. Inside the unit, patient and control zones remain physically separated. This gives technologists the space to manage scans efficiently while preserving privacy. The layout supports faster turnaround times and a more focused, patient-centered experience.

Platinum’s mobile PET/CT rentals come with adjustable lighting that helps patients with sensory sensitivities, and integrated storage prevents workflow bottlenecks caused by clutter or misplaced accessories. Whether the trailer is stationed in a hospital parking lot, at a rural care site, or deployed during an equipment outage, the environment stays controlled, efficient, and professional from first scan to last.

Tele-Radiology & Workflow Integration Support

Platinum’s mobile PET/CT rental units are meant to be extensions of the hospital’s existing diagnostic infrastructure. Each unit connects directly to PACS, RIS, and EMR platforms already in use, eliminating the need for temporary workarounds or duplicate systems. Pre-deployment configuration helps confirm that when the trailer arrives, it’s ready to route images and records using established workflows. That consistency reduces onboarding time and prevents communication gaps between departments.

For facilities that rely on after-hours or overflow reads, the mobile PET/CT units also support full tele-radiology workflows. Secure transmission protocols are in place for large study files, and network performance is optimized for both speed and reliability. Interpretation can be handled by the facility’s existing tele-rad group or routed to a partner service if requested during setup. This flexibility is especially useful for regional hospitals and smaller facilities balancing limited in-house radiology coverage with growing demand for advanced imaging.

Data security is prioritized from day one. All image transfers are encrypted using protocols that meet HIPAA standards for both at-rest and in-transit data. Before the unit goes live, the technical team works directly with hospital IT staff to confirm firewall settings, validate endpoint security, and test authentication protocols; once operational, the mobile system performs as a secure, integrated node within the hospital network.

Interoperability becomes critical when working against diagnostic deadlines in fields like oncology and cardiology. Clinicians need timely image access, consistent interpretation workflows, and immediate archiving into existing systems. When trailers function as part of the hospital’s network, not outside it, they allow teams to move from scan to report without introducing delays, duplicate steps, or manual handoffs.
